Cutting Goat Milk Soap

Still loving the new soap cutter!

Making Hot Process Goat Milk Soap

I am on a video roll my son finally had the time to help me out  with my videos.  He has taught me lots today!  I hope you enjoy!

Cutting Pine Tar Soap

I am finally getting to show off my new soap cutter built by Bud Haffner!  Here is the link if you would like to purchase one http://www.etsy.com/shop/budhaffner?ref=search_shop_redirect . He make two sizes a 1" cut and a 1 1/4" cut. The quality and price is very good and shipping was super fast.  What a beauty it is.  I have been wanting one for a while but kept putting it off.  Now I can retire the good old cheese slicer!

My Christmas Gift Set Packaging Solved

Sometimes I feel so packaging challenged.  It seems nothing comes out as I ever plan.
I have had the hardest time trying to package up my goat milk soap with a Christmas theme.  I finally found these cute cotton bags.  When they arrived I found them to be just big enough to fit the soap in(whew).  I had to attach the wooden soap dish to the bag.  I was hoping the dish would fit in the bag too.  Well it was raffita to the rescue.  Not exactly as I imagined but it works.

My felted soap was a little easier once I ordered the polyolefin shrink film.  This stuff is amazing.  I have read about it but hated dealing with those awlful shrink bags I have used in the past.  They have an awlful odor and are just to brittle.  Finally a super thin film that is strong and best of all comes perforated so my customers can smell my product without that plastic odor.  I attached the label to the back of the soap dish and added a homespun bow to the top.

My Results of the Magma Soap Challenge

Here are the pictures of my soap.  I was not able to get the video to work but it was horrible anyway.  I had a very hard time cutting the soap with my little wire cutter.  My wire cutter did not like the glycerin soap at all.
I used my own soap recipe to make this soap except with added glycerin soap. It is fragranced with Autumn Embers.  The glycerin soap was colored with gold mica.  I am not sure if you can see it but I tried to designed the soap as if it was embers burning in a fireplace.

I have to say this was a very fun challenge and I can't wait to try more!

Magma Soap Challenge!

For my first blog posted I wanted to share a soap challenge from  Amy at http://www.greatcakessoapworks.com/ and also sponsored by http://www.brambleberry.com/
I love watching Amy's very helpful videos that challenge me to get creative with my soapmaking!  The first video you will see the technique she uses in creating the Magma Soap using both Cold Process and Melt and Pour Glycerin soap.  The second video is the cutting of the soap 24hrs later.

Ok, my soap is made and I will get a video posted when I cut the soap.  I wanted to have a video made while I accually made my version but my son the camera man had Karate today.  I have to say, as stated in the video the textures were very strange while I swirled the soap.  I sure hope it turns out!
